Domestic & Commercial Drain Excavation

Although it’s quite rare, some domestic and commercial properties can suffer from severe drainage problems that are so serious the only solution is to excavate the drain.

This type of damage can be caused by anything from ground movement and sometimes even flooding to surface works and major root ingress from surrounding trees that diminishes the structural integrity of the pipework..

The first stage of any drain repair is to always carry out a CCTV drain survey. That will provide more information about the damage done, its location and the access available so we can determine the most appropriate and cost-effective fix.

Drain excavation is a complex process that takes much longer than in-situ repairs, so we do try to avoid it if possible. However, there may be no other option in some cases.

What is Drain Excavation?

Drain excavation is a method of repairing damaged drainage systems. It involves the physical digging of a trench or hole to provide direct access to certain areas of your drainage solutions. In some cases, a drainage problem can be so damaged that is needs to be directly accessed and cannot be repaired in-situ.

This hole needs to be dug manually and very carefully, as any mechanical equipment could cause more damage to your drainage system. Drain excavation is an effective strategy for repair and replacement. However, it can be extremely risky. Digging can cause more damage to the affected pipe, or cause damage to the system surrounding it.
